"As a semi-retired Psychologist, I have a professional interest in people, which is often mirrored in my photography, but other themes include travel and seascapes, too.
I have a website which is divided into two distinct areas, 'Darkness' and 'Light'. The 'Light' includes portraits, travel, the familiar and the conventional.
The 'Darkness', on the other hand, refers to events and places where all is not as it seems, a world where the mysterious, the unfamiliar and unconventional coexist. I was a member of Bracknell Camera Club in Berkshire and I am currently looking to join a local club in the Devon area.
In terms of photographic distinctions, I hold the Fellowship distinction FIPF with the Irish Photographic Federation (IPF), in addition to the Associate distinction ARPS with the Royal Photographic Society (RPS), the Excellence distinction EFIAP-gold with the Federation Internationale del' Art Photogaphique (FIAP) and the Excellence distinction EPSA with the Photographic Society of America. I am also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society FRGS.
My conventional photos have been in yearly club photographic exhibitions, but I do like working in a conceptual / fantasy way with a series of images (see website-darkness section) taken at the Venice carnival in 2008 and 2009, which explores our fascination with masks and what might lay underneath in terms of the human psyche.
I am currently working on a mental health project
which I hope to submit for a Fellowship with the RPS, but I also have two other projects in the pipeline I hope to develop over the next couple of years.
