Spring Fling II

I’m Ingrid, a figurative & plein-air painter living in beautiful West Cornwall.

 

Both my figurative and landscape works explore tranquillity enjoyed during quiet times. I paint figures (humans, animals) alone, or in their own thoughts, highlighting the need for short moments of inner quietness. My compositions usually show a simple background or a limited palette, aligning with the quietness and mood of the subject matter. My land and seascapes focus on the light, colours, atmosphere, and feel of a place, experienced during times of self-reflection.

 

Light plays a big part in my work. Things take on a whole new aesthetic seen either in shadow, contre-jour, bathed in light, or my favourite - chiaroscuro.

 

I specialise in oils and make many sketches and studies in watercolour, pastel, charcoal, and graphite, which often sell as artworks in themselves.
