Nigel works towards finding a painting, where the experimental process is important, rather than having a predetermined idea. He looks for an energy or mood that he can relate to. A visual poem or meaning has to be present at the conclusion. A process where things emerge and discoveries are made; and one that hopefully continues with you the viewer.
