Rock Bottom

I am a printmaker who moved from Reading (a large urban area) to Dartmoor, four years ago. I have exhibited in the Reading area for the last eight years and now exhibit in various local venues. 

The aspects of Dartmoor that instantly attracted me were the bare, rock edifices grounded in the surrounding barren land. I am continually amazed at how their characteristics change according to the light shining upon them and the transience of that change. Rocks and stones on the riverbeds change in colour and form according to the depth of the water and the strength of the light filtering through to the bottom or reflecting off the surface. Likewise, the abundant hedgerows are continually changing and different colours coming to the fore.

I have aimed to reflect this continual change I my prints. Some of these images are abstract in nature rather than literal and each one has been built up using several different layers of ink, which like my other work, often gives the impression of 'looking through' oone layer to the next.
