Porlock Boats Resting at Low Tide
Lindsey McLaren
Lindsey McLaren is an accomplished contemporary impressionist artist living in the Northeast of England. She originally studied illustration and had a career in graphic design. During lockdown in 2020, taking time to enjoy the countryside and appreciate nature inspired her to learn to paint using the oils she inherited from her father.
Lindsey explores the natural beauty of the countryside and the coast, from Northeast England to Scotland, Devon, and the Cotswolds. She captures the natural landscape and references the marks made by human activity, such as farming and fishing on the land. Each of her pieces is carefully composed to captures the essence of the moment.
Lindsey has exhibited in the north east at the Customs House Gallery in South Shields, Washington Arts Centre and the Alnmouth Arts Festival. She was Highly Commended in The Artist and Leisure Painter Open Competition for a portrait submission in 2023 and for an urban scene in 2024.
