Paradise Fades - Homeless
Yuanbo Chen
My work is talking about human relationship with nature under this pandemic. My work is using camera to record my performance. This is my statement of work. In order to create our own city-paradise, we are losing the paradise made by nature. People might think they have conquered the nature. However, nature could destroy our regular society only with a tiny virus. Like William Wordsworth said ‘Little we see in nature that is ours.’ Now nature seems take back the freedom once we had.
When I was in lockdown, time was rich for me. Hence, I had plenty of time to observe and touch nature surroundings as well as to think about the existence of human. Nature is always a speechless wise man. As the dialogue in Persona ‘But you can refuse to move or talk. Then at least you’re not lying’, I could imagine that nature is silence but honest. Eventually, with the silence of nature, I fall asleep then dreamed about the freedom I lost.
