Mixed Media by Sarah Jane Ross
Enclosure Act (5)
Sarah Jane Ross
Sarah Jane Ross is a visual arts practitioner based in Bridport, West Dorset.
An environmental artist, her practice covers mixed media, sculpture, photography, printmaking and jewellery. With bold colours, industrial lines and texture, Sarah Jane’s work is playful and humorous (sometimes with a darker side). Abstract work reflects her interests including nature, the local Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and music.
Finding a feminine aesthetic from within a traditionally masculine narrative, Sarah Jane Ross’s playful work reflects her experimentation with texture and form while exploring her artistic ethos of ‘create not consume’.
Sarah Jane has studied with the University of the Creative Arts, the University of Exeter and The Art Institute, London. This mixed media piece is political artwork, considering the Enclosure Acts' affects on the UK landscape and people. It asks us to question trespassing, livelihoods and freedom. Equally, it is a 'Haring meets Constable' painting of the South West's landscape
