I am an artist based in Cornwall, UK. I work in a variety of media but drawing is central to the way I explore my subject matter, using observation, imagination and invention. Over the years I have focused on many different subjects, but landscape and animal studies form the core of my current work.
My landscape studies are large and expressive, and often echo the figure studies and nudes of my earlier work. I use a range of media including watercolour, gouache, collage, charcoal & conte, and have recently started including hand mixed paints created from grinding down pigments I collect when out make studies. Occasionally I also produce small pieces in carved stone. The landscapes & sculptures are original works available from galleries or direct from my studio. Please contact me for more information.
Animals make lively and challenging subjects and translate well into greetings cards and limited edition prints (both available from my website). The cards and prints started with birds: flouncy birds, grumpy birds, kookie birds, glum birds and silly birds. These fantasy creations began when, housebound due to a broken leg, a small book of rather scrappy sketches made in Paradise Park, Hayle, became the starting point for a new imaginative journey. When my mobility returned the animal studies spread into seagulls, dogs & cats, and farmyard animals.Pastel
