Dark Mountain

Roanna Scott is a Printmaker based in the North East of Scotland, drawing inspiration from the Scottish countryside and famous mountain views. 

Roanna studied Printmaking at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen and has continued to practice Printmaking, setting up her own business creating printed pieces for the home.

Her carving style creates pattern in her work, simplifying the usual detail from a landscape.  In particular the way she portrays the wild skies of typical British weather, imagining continuous lines weaving across the sky.  Roanna enjoys walking and exploring the British coastlines and Scottish hills, fuelling her printmaking inspirations.

 'Dark Mountain' is based on the Three Sisters of Glen Coe, a popular mountain view from the A82 road which runs right through this mountain range.  The use of a single black layer for this print emphasises the size and importance of these particular mounts, demanding respect against the rugged landscape.  Printmaking and specifically lino block printing is perfect for showing the extreme nature of these mountains.
