Stella Tripp

The daughter of a refugee, I am acutely aware of the fragility and precariousness of life; the random and precise series of events that makes each one of us who we are and determines our existence. I make abstract work that reflects this. It is inventive, detailed, and multi-layered, expressing the absurdity of life, along with the complexity and fragility of the world and our engagement with it. 

An interplay between structure and chaos underlies thought-provoking work, challenging both artist and viewer to see things afresh and make surprising connections. The process of creating is important: an engagement with the physical sensuality of materials: the alchemy of transformation. I make things - and make things up - to discover truths and explore possibilities.
