Imaginary Drawn with Light

Dr. Raskovsky presents a collection of his best selected works created over the past three years, available in low number limited edition prints.

A computer scientist by profession, Dr Martin Raskovsky has held a passion for photography since his early childhood, but it wasn't until 2016 that he first showed work. From the early days in a dark room built in the bathroom of his parents' home, to the present days of digital manipulation, Dr. Martin Raskovsky's work has been characterised by imagination, surrealism and impressionism, with his photographs on many occasions mistaken for paintings.

"Motionless images are transformed into works of art made of a versatile and energetic elegance that recall graceful watercolours or fluid oils with the communicative power of a great expressionist." Christopher Rosewood

In his own words, he goes to sleep with the camera near the bed side, when a dream comes, he uses it as palette and brush, applying the world of his dreams to the photos of his reality. Works are characterised by this dreamlike other worldly quality. Images are fantasyesque but with a hint of realism that evokes a poetic, tantalising and intriguing response.

A current interest in the post capture creative process seeks colours and forms that emanate from within himself, often completely unrelated to the original subject. Brush in hand, the journey of image transformation is an art form of its own. Colours and shapes are transformed again and again until the time when a solution emerges; the journey from photographic camera to canvas, Dr. Raskovsky's creative journey, is a true innovation to photographic art.
