Artizan Studio Residency: Ian Cox
As part of the Torbay Venue Grants, printmaker Ian Cox will be hosted at Artizan Gallery in their basement space for Devon Open Studios 2021. The Torbay Venue Grants awarded nine 50% fee awards to artists opening their own studios across the English Riviera, and one full fee award with hosting for an individual artist unable to open their own venue. Ian Cox will be setting up a functioning temporary studio space at Artizan's Lucius Street Gallery as they welcome audiences to this years event. Ian Cox SWAc
Ian Cox SWAcis a South Devon-based artist and printmaker whose practice focuses on creating limited-edition fine art prints using techniques such as linoprint and mezzotint. His work is inspired by locations imbued with a sense of the wild, mysterious, and uncanny places that evoke remnants of folklore, fragments of ancient histories, and connections to deep, unseen energies within the landscape. Ian’s art explores the tension between the rational and the magical, capturing the fleeting essence of places that resonate with his personal journey. His prints reflect a search for meaning and connection in a world often overshadowed by distraction and disconnection, offering a contemplative interpretation of life and landscape.
