Ian Cox - Devon Open Studios
During Devon Open Studios Ian will be opening his studio space, located at our gallery on Fleet Street, from where he has been working and developing his creative practice for about 3 years. We first met Ian when he was awarded a bursary by us to take part in Devon Open Studios 2021, setting up a temporary studio space at our Lucius Street Gallery. We thoroughly enjoyed having Ian with us hence the offer to him to move into one of our studio spaces at Fleet Street. Ian's main practice at this time was the creatin of lino prints. Today, in addition to the lino prints, Ian creates detailed mezzotint prints, and large scale pencil and charcoal drawings. His subjects include the wild, uncanny, and folkloric aspects of the moorlands and coastlines of Devon and Cornwall. Ian has also recently become a member of the South West Academy. We shall be hosting a launch event on Friday 6th September, 6 - 8 pm, and Ian's studio will be open daily throughout Devon Open Studios.

Ian Cox SWAc
Ian Cox SWAcis a South Devon-based artist and printmaker whose practice focuses on creating limited-edition fine art prints using techniques such as linoprint and mezzotint. His work is inspired by locations imbued with a sense of the wild, mysterious, and uncanny places that evoke remnants of folklore, fragments of ancient histories, and connections to deep, unseen energies within the landscape. Ian’s art explores the tension between the rational and the magical, capturing the fleeting essence of places that resonate with his personal journey.
