Luminescent Nature - April Exhibition Launch

Presenting the audacious and luminescent landscapes of Jo Salmon.

Approaching Spring, Artizan is looking forward to a particularly diverse period in their calendar as they welcome two exhibitions of local artists to the space in April who are new to the gallery for 2019.

“We’re looking forward to hosting some shorter exhibitions this year, as renewed flexibility at our main gallery has given us the opportunity to offer more accessible two-week, one-week and even one-day flash exhibitions,” says Julie Brandon, Director of Artizan Gallery, “It’s making the space even more fluid and compelling for our repeat audiences, and in the case of April it’s positively kaleidoscopic.”

This exhibition phase will begin aptly for the season with “Luminescent Nature”, an exhibition of new works by artist Jo Salmon. With a background in design and taking inspiration from the likes of Patrick Heron, Winifred Nicholson and William Morris, her still life and landscapes are audacious and luminescent, a vibrant celebration of the natural world and working landscapes that surround her current mid-Devon home.

“We all perceive what is around us differently,” says Jo “Those streaks of light and colour which can enter into our vision is what creates our personal reflection… I wanted to incorporate this light and colour from the landscape or floral bouquets to form my own reflection in what I see.”

Luminescent Nature will launch on March 30th, 18:00-20:00 with the exhibition running from 30th March - 12th April. For more information visit http://www.art-hub.co.uk/apr19.
