About the Evening

Tickets include a welcome “Bubbles” Cocktail and drinks token for a second drink from the menu. Every month, we’ll have a new menu of four cocktails, all designed by our mixologists to complement the exhibition. We’ll be picking a different spirit each time and non-alcoholic options will also be available.

About our Speaker

For this months Cocktail & Conversation we will be participating in England’s Seafood FEAST, with bespoke themed cocktails from team Panache and a range of tempting deli fish nibbles to tantalise your taste buds.

We shall also be welcoming our guest speaker Barry Young, Director of Brixham Trawler Agents and Chief Auctioneer at the legendary Brixham Fish Market .

Brixham Fish Market started in the late 1800’s with sailing smacks landing their catch in the Old Fish Market Quay. In the early seventies an undercover market was built and then in 2010 there was a major £20 million re-development and modernisation programme to create todays state of the art market which was opened by HRH Princess Royal in March 2011.

Unlike many other UK ports, the Brixham fishery is largely sustainable and therefore has thrived in recent years resulting in the highest value catch in England and a world class reputation for quality. Brixham fish finds its way to local outlets, top London restaurants and the plates of consumers across Europe.

Barry has many years of experience in the fish trade and will be telling us about the boats, the catch and all the other activities there that go toward making Brixham the top earning port in England and Wales with annually more than £25miilion of fish being landed and auctioned here demonstrating just how valuable this industry is to Brixham.

About the Exhibition

An exhibition of poetry and art curated by Becky Nuttall in association with Robert Garnham and Artizan Gallery Torquay.

2018 marks one hundred years since the 1918 World War One Armistice and women won the right to vote. However, conflict and challenge and inequality continue on all fronts up to the present day.

In this selective open show, artists and poets will be asked to submit new work on this theme.

For more information on the show, visit our exhibition page.
