An Introduction to Linocut - with Ann Burnham
Learn the basics of linocut printmaking in this introductory workshop. This half day workshop is a great place to start if you’re new to printing or an equally good refresher. Create and print your own hand-designed plates.
Linocut is a traditional printmaking method where you cut a design into a block of linoleum, then ink the remaining surface and print onto paper by applying pressure to the back of the lino with the back of a spoon, heel of your hand or a rolling pin. Design and cut a single linocut and make several prints from this. Strong imagery and decorative pattern work well with this medium. We’ll explore different ways of introducing more colour from the same lino, having the opportunity to experiment and print more than one linocut. This engaging session ensures hands-on guidance and safe working practices.
