Join us for a networking event without the early start! Artizan Gallery welcomes you to the 2018 season of Cocktails and Conversation.

This year, we’ll be inviting you to exclusively preview our monthly exhibitions before they open to the public with bespoke cocktails prepared by the legendary local team from Panache, and in addition will be welcoming an exciting line up of speakers to deliver inspiring talks to benefit your businesses. Finally, we’ll wrap up each event with a cocktail demonstration from our talented mixologists!

About the Evening

Tickets include a welcome “Bubbles” Cocktail and drinks token for a second drink from the menu. Every month, we’ll have a new menu of four cocktails, all designed by our mixologists to complement the exhibition. We’ll be picking a different spirit each time and non-alcoholic options will also be available.

About our Speaker

This months speaker will be Gordon Oliver, Mayor of Torbay. Gordon Oliver was first elected Mayor on 6th May 2011 and re-elected for a second term on 8th May 2015. As Mayor he has responsibility for giving direction to the council and managing the delivery of its services. He has significant decision-making powers and is the main representative for Torbay. Gordon also has a keen interest in the history of Torbay and has a wealth of knowledge on this subject and will talking about some significant and also lesser known facts that have shaped Torbay.

About the Exhibition

Through the use of innovative surface materials, artist Cristina Ulander produces uniquely atmospheric landscapes and skyscapes. Techniques produced on Perspex and aluminium, create an airbrushed finish, despite the use of ordinary paintbrushes, resulting in serenely flat works. Low horizon lines and a focus on dramatic, photorealistic, skies, often combined with a candy-esque colour palette, produces works that are at once lifelike and dreamlike.

This will be Cristina's second time joining us in the gallery, having exhibited at the end of 2017 in our Winter Open exhibition. Her large landscape, Dream No. 1, caught the attention of many on this occasion, with its unusual flat quality and dramatic depiction of sky. We anticipate this showcase of a wider body of her work will be truly awe-inspiring.
