Angela Rimmer
I'm a Devon-based abstract painter working with acrylic, coffee, ink and restrained gold leaf. My practice is rooted in a deep connection to the natural world. It is concerned with thresholds - moments of liminal transition where perception slows and the image gives way to experience. I'm interested in the conditions we move through and in-between states of arrival, pause and disorientation. Materials play an active role. Acrylic provides structure, texture and containment; coffee and ink introduce seepage, time, and unpredictability. Gold leaf appears sparingly as a marker of light and passage - a point where something shifts. My paintings unfold slowly and are intended to be savoured - shaped by light, proximity and time. The viewer is held within the surface, encountering the painting as a place rather than an image.
