Guided by Imagination
Mark Harris transitioned to ceramics after a 40-year career in painting landscapes, abstracts, and from-life portraits. In ceramics, he has discovered a liberating medium that allows him to create unique, boundary-free works guided solely by his imagination.
Mark’s creative process is intuitive and exploratory. He often begins by letting shapes drift into his mind in a semi-conscious state or by asking himself questions like, "What would happen if I did this?" Freestyle doodling on paper is another way he generates ideas, allowing shapes and contours to evolve into workable forms.
This open-ended approach fuels an endless stream of inspiration, enabling Mark to continually innovate and produce distinctive pieces that reflect his artistic curiosity and individuality.
