Maureen Bate took up her brushes again about 20 years ago, after a long gap, and has had some excellent tuition from Mike McDonald and Daniel Holmes-Adams. She does a lot of sketching using pen, crayon and watercolour, and uses a palette knife more and more in oil painting. Maureen is inspired by local landscapes, also Scilly, Scotland and France. Some landscapes are influenced by the Canadian Group of 7. She has been working on life drawing and is making a collection of French characters to remind her of holidays in France.
