Acrylic by William Lamprey
Pheasant
William Lamprey
William had a career as a stage and scenery artist working for many west end theatres in London.
Having moved Devon William has taken inspiration from the surrounding sea and countryside producing work in pastel and acrylics. He has spent many hours exploring and painting on Dartmoor which has not always been without incident. On one occasion, whilst painting on Dartmoor the local hunt came past and an enormous hound sent all of Williams paints and materials flying amongs the bracken. A red coated huntsman on an enormous horse did not apologise and seemd to think that William should not have been there despite it being a National Park for all to enjoy. This piece depicts a hand reared pheasant who occasionally wanders into his garden and shows no fear of humans and has become quite well known in the local area.
