Acrylic on Board
I work from my studio in Kingsteignton here in the west country.
I have always been a creative person, heavily influenced by my father who is a skilled model engineer. He would sit and draw with me and my siblings for hours.
I am largely a self taught artist taking inspiration and advice from mentors and fellow artists rather than pursuing more formal qualifications. In the last 10 years I have been steadily developing my own style and perfecting my personal techniques.
I have a love of animals that is deep rooted in me since childhood and this love and admiration manifests itself in my pictures. Also, thanks to the beauty of the area we live in, I have developed a fascination with
water, boats and the way the light reflects so many different colours on the estuary mud and rivers.
I mainly paint in acrylics building up layers of paint using a dry brush technique which allows other colours to show through the various glazes.
