Harley Street, Marylebone 2am Discarded Blooms
Juliet Cornell
I've been a full time artist for just over a year. Before that I was a radiographer, so making images has been a lifelong activity. I graduated in Fine Art from Plymouth College of Art and Plymouth University 10 years ago.
I paint abstract landscapes focussing on the interface between nature and human interaction. I'm often inspired by the absurdly beautiful or the unexpected. I use mixed media and blend traditional art materials with home decorating paints and materials.Having recently returned to the West Country from London I am reacquainting myself with this fascinating region.
Several years of providing overnight on call services to the hospitals of Marylebone gave me a unique vision of unexpected sights. Celebrities and the rich and famous slipping into clinics under the cover of darkness alongside florists refreshing the beautiful floral arrangements of the clinics, hospitals and hotels. Beautiful blooms, only just past their best, tossed into bins and buckets replaced by something only marginally fresher.
