William was born in Torbay and has continued to study, work and live across Devon & Cornwall for most of his life, graduating from Falmouth University in 2015.

Since then he has exhibited across the South-West, sold work as far as Australia, completed numerous commissions and won both the New Elizabeth Bovill Trophy and Joanna Radford Prize in 2020.

The central theme underpinning William’s work is the ongoing journey in understanding personal identity and how it is shaped over the passage of time. 

​

Each painting oozes with organic texture and depth. Unrefined ombré backdrops overlain with delicate highlights, stirring colours and complimenting balance, rewarding observers with something new upon every viewing.

From the "Horizons" series, presenting a maze of interwoven stories culminating in the forming of an identity, a future, and a journey. The central concept stems from the image of a young child gazing over the sea, the sky, and the stars, considering who they want to be, where life will take them, and how the journey will define them.
