Raising funds for Ukraine
During the Summer of 2022 artist Mark Thompson shall be walking 630 miles of the South-West Coast path for RE:ACT Disaster Response raising money for the people of Ukraine. His walk will take him from Minehead to Poole via Lands End and will be undertaken in stages from May – September.
Having experienced a breakdown in 2021, in addition to raising funds, this walk, will form part of Mark’s recovery back to both physical and mental health. Unable to go to Ukraine, or take in a family, this will be Mark’s way of helping those in their greatest need.
Along the way, Mark will be sketching and recording the journey and on completion of the walk, shall then take those sketches and experiences to produce a series of work that will be featured at Artizan Gallery as part of Devon Open Studios 2023. Our two main spaces will host the exhibition of works and Mark will create a studio space in our Basement gallery from which he will continue to paint and be available to talk with visitors to the gallery about the walk and the work produced.
You can read more about the challenge that he has set himself and how he hopes other can get involved via his fundraising page, but we shall also be sharing regular updates along the way from Mark on this page and via our newsletter.
