Join us for our a celebratory preview evening recognising our first ever Artizan Bursary awards and launch two stunning exhibitions.

Artists Rod Ashman and Mike Tingle will bring their respective showcases, “Fire Water Stone” and “Butterfly Blake and Bong-Tree” to Artizan’s Lucius Street venue.

“The ambitions of the Artizan Bursary programme are broad. It might invite emerging talent from the immediate area, or alternatively provide a platform to bring artists to Torbay that audiences otherwise wouldn’t get the opportunity to experience. Ultimately, the hope is it will help us to continually evolve our programme, bringing new and high-quality work to the venue for audiences to enjoy.” Julie Brandon, Director Artizan Gallery

Beyond an equally accomplished pedigree, few similarities can be drawn between these two artists' work, promising an exhibition that will intrigue at every turn, from the raw, elemental power of Ashman’s abstract landscapes to the minute “nonsense” detail of Tingle’s icons. In both though, there is an exploration of emotion, of things felt rather than seen, which though expressed in very different ways offers a unifying thread that can be traced across the exhibitions.

At our preview evenings, you can book a one hour slot and join us for a drink and a chance to meet the artists. As part of COVID secure policy we ask that you wear a mask on arrival and whilst you do not have a drink and we will be restricting numbers to allow social distancing. It is essential that you RSVP and an email address will be held for track and trace purposes.
